Enrolling in classes & managing waitlists
1. Understanding registration windows
A registration window is a specific time period when you can enroll your students in classes. Your co-op admin controls when it opens and closes. Outside of that window, you won't see an Enroll button.
Think of it like a ticketing window, when it's open, classes are available to sign up for. When it closes, enrollment stops (though administrators can usually override this).
How to know if a window is open
On the Class Catalog page, you'll see an Enroll button next to each class only ifthe registration window is currently open. If you don't see an Enroll button, the window is either closed or hasn't opened yet. Ask your co-op admin about timing if you're unsure.
2. Finding and browsing classes
Go to Class Catalogin your dashboard to browse all available classes for your co-op. You can filter and search to find what you're looking for.
Using filters and search
The catalog toolbar lets you search by class name, teacher, or description, and narrow the list with a Day filter and a Gradefilter. If you've already enrolled your students in some classes, turn on Hide enrolled to only see classes you haven't signed up for yet.
What information you'll see
Each class card shows:
- Class name — obvious, but helpful for searching
- Teacher name— who's teaching
- Grade level or age range — who the class is for
- Meeting days and times — when it happens
- Fee or “Free”— whether there's a cost at checkout
- Enrollment status — how many seats are left, or whether the class is full and has a waitlist
Viewing class details
Click a class to see the full description, meeting location (if in-person), any materials or prerequisites, and the teacher's bio. This is where you decide if it's a good fit for your student before enrolling.
3. Registering for a class
Enrollment is straightforward: find a class during the open window and click Enroll. You might enroll one student or multiple students at checkout.
4. What happens at checkout
If you enroll in a class with a fee, you'll be taken to a secure checkout page to pay. If the class is free, you skip this step entirely.
Paying for classes
How payment works depends on how your co-op has set things up:
- Pay at enrollment (Stripe):You’re taken to a secure Stripe checkout page that shows the total. Pay by card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.) or Apple Pay / Google Pay. Your co-op receives the payment, and you get an email receipt right away. You can save your card at checkout for future registrations. Some co-ops also offer a Pay from bank account option for the same amount. Choosing it holds your student’s seat immediately, even though the bank debit takes a few business days to clear. If the debit later fails, the seat is released back to the catalog and you’re emailed so you can re-enroll and pay by card.
- Flexible billing — enroll now, pay later: Some co-ops let you enroll without paying at that moment. Instead, the class fee is added to your account as a pending charge on your Payments page. You can pay the balance by card from there any time, or bring cash or a check on meeting day, however your co-op prefers to collect.
The button at enrollment will tell you which model your co-op uses. If it says Enroll & pay, you’re going through Stripe. If it says Enroll and then confirms without asking for a card, the fee will show up on your Payments page.
Some co-ops offer a sibling discount: the first of your students enrolled in a paid class each term pays full price, and any other student in your family gets a discount on their own class and materials fees. If your co-op has this on, enrolling more than one student at once shows an “up to” estimate rather than a final total — you’ll see the exact price once the enrollment goes through.
If you have an outstanding balance
If your family has an unpaid balance from previous classes, fees, or other co-op charges, you might not be able to start a new enrollment. You'll need to pay that balance first from your Paymentspage. Once it's paid, you can enroll immediately, no approval needed.
5. Using waitlists
If a class is full, you can still join the waitlist instead of missing out. The waitlist is a queue of families waiting for a seat if someone drops.
How waitlists work
When you click Enroll on a full class, you'll see the option to join the waitlist instead of a regular enrollment. You'll be added to the queue in the order you join.
If a seat opens up, your co-op admin reviews the waitlist and decides who to offer it to. Promotion is always a manual decision. It doesn't happen automatically. If you're promoted, you'll get an email and may need to complete payment at that time if the class has a fee.
Waitlisted classes show up on My Classes alongside your confirmed schedule, with a “Waitlisted” badge and your position in the queue — so you can check your spot without leaving your family dashboard.
What to expect while you wait
There's no guarantee a seat will open, and no set timeline. Your co-op admin may reach out to let you know your options, or you can contact them directly to ask about availability. Keep an eye on your email. That's how you'll hear if a spot opens up for you.
Removing yourself from the waitlist
There's currently no self-service way to leave a waitlist from My Classes. If you no longer want a waitlisted spot, contact your co-op admin and ask them to remove you.
6. Dropping a class
If your plans change and you need to drop a class, go to My Classes on your dashboard. Find the class, open its options menu, and choose Unenroll.
When you can drop
Whether you're allowed to drop a class depends on your co-op's policy. Some co-ops let you drop anytime; others have a deadline (like the start of the term). If you don't see an Unenroll option, you either can't drop yet or your co-op doesn't allow drops for this class. Ask your co-op admin for clarification.
Refunds
Whether you get a refund for dropping a class is also up to your co-op. Some refund in full if you drop early, others have a deadline for refunds (like the first week of class). Check with your co-op or look for that information on the class details page.
7. Troubleshooting enrollment issues
I don't see an Enroll button
This almost always means the registration window is closed. Check with your co-op admin about when the next window opens. If the admin says a window is open and you still don't see an Enroll button, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.
I got sent to a “Confirm your information” page instead of the catalog
That’s expected if this isn’t the first term you’ve been enrolled in. Returning families confirm their contact info and current waivers once at the start of each new term before they can enroll. Fill it in, sign anything that’s asking for a signature, and click Confirm & continue to classes. If your co-op charges an enrollment fee for the new term, you’ll be sent to a secure checkout for it right after — that’s the last step before you land back in the catalog.
I see a message about an outstanding balance
Your family has unpaid charges from a previous term or balance. Go to Paymentsand pay the balance. The exact amount will be shown there. Once it's paid, you can enroll in classes immediately. This gate applies even to a free class — an outstanding balance blocks any new enrollment, not just paid ones.
A student doesn't show up as an option to enroll
Every student on file in your family shows up as a checkbox when you enroll — there's no grade or age cutoff that hides a student from the list. If a name is missing entirely, the student probably hasn't been added to your family yet. Go to My Profile, find the Children section, and add them there, then come back and try enrolling again.
A class's grade range (shown on the class details page) is a guideline your co-op sets to help you pick the right fit, not a hard rule the system enforces — if you're unsure whether a class is right for your student's age or grade, ask the teacher or your co-op admin before enrolling.
I enrolled but haven't seen a receipt or confirmation email
Check your spam folder first. Sometimes receipt emails end up there. If it's not there, go to My Classesand confirm the enrollment went through (the class should be listed). If it's there, the enrollment is done even if you haven't received an email.
If you paid for the class and don't see a receipt, email your co-op admin. They can resend it or check the payment status in their Stripe dashboard.
I can't drop a class
You probably can't drop because your co-op's policy doesn't allow it after a certain date. Check with your admin about the deadline or whether they can make an exception for you. In some cases, the teacher can note that a student won't be attending, even if you can't formally drop from the system.
I was on a waitlist but never heard if I got promoted
Check your spam folder for an email saying you were promoted to a seat. Also go to My Classesand look for the class, if it shows you as enrolled (not on the waitlist anymore), you were promoted. Otherwise, a seat hasn't opened yet and you're still waiting.
Waitlist promotion is always a manual decision by your admin, not automatic. If you haven't heard anything and want to know where things stand, reach out to your admin directly. They can tell you if there's any chance of a seat opening.
Something else isn't working
Use the chat button on any page to reach out to the HomeschoolGo support team, or email your co-op admin. Tell them what you tried and what happened, and they'll help sort it out.
Still have a question? Head back to the Help & Support page or reach out to your co-op admin directly from the dashboard.
